What is EPFO?
EPFO or Employee Provident fund Organisation is a Provident Fund organization for an Employee that contributes an amount to the future. This is very useful because it can be utilized for future savings.
People who are working in Private and Government companies know about the PF because where their part of salary every month would be added to the PF account as a contribution.
This amount can be withdrawn from the official website after 90 days from the time you left the company. So this is an important step in the PF Amount withdrawal procedure.
How to Activate EPFO Account
Activation of the PF account is mandatory for the amount of withdrawal.
Activating an EPFO account is easy from the online portal. So you have to visit the below Link: Activate EPFO Account
As per the above image highlighted, you have to click on “Activate UAN” to get into the Sign Up Page for the Account activation because this will activate the UAN Account.
Note: Company that contributes PF every month is eligible for below Activation because only if you are working on the company which offers PF it will be considered.
PF Account number or UAN can be found in your “Pay Slip” of the company or you can get it from your Employer/Company.
As per the above image, it will request the following details which you required to fill to activate the account.
UAN | UAN number can be found in Payslip or you can investigate from your employer because Employer who is a contributor for your PF |
Enter Member ID | Member ID or UAN which should be obtained from the Employer where you can enter either of the UAN or Member ID |
AADHAAR | You had to enter your Aadhaar Number in this field. |
PAN | You had to enter the Correct PAN number which you linked in your company |
Name | The name should be as per your records in the Company/Employer |
Date of Birth | You have to enter your Date of Birth |
Mobile No. | Enter your Mobile Number registered with Employer |
Email -ID | Your E-mail id |
Captcha | Enter the captcha shown in your screen |
After filling all the above details, you would have to click on ” Get Authentication Pin”, so that you would get a Pin in your Mobile Number.
Logging into EPFO Account
You had to Enter and confirm the Pin on the Next Page so that your UAN will be activated and you had to set up a password for your account to login to the EPFO website.
Once the account is activated, you can log in to your account by visiting the below link. So you can verify all the details
The above page will open after clicking on the link where you have to enter your UAN number and enter the password which you created during the activation process and Sign In.
Once logged in you would get the above page and make sure to check whether your PAN and Aadhaar are showing verified, if not follow the below.
Verifying AadhAar and PAN in EPFO
To verify the Aadhaar and PAN to your EPFO Account, click on the “KYC” option once you entered into your account in EPFO as per below
Below Page will appear post clicking on the “KYC” option from the website and you have to enter the details you required to verify. So follow the below page to verify the details.
You can verify the following documents
- Bank
- PAN
- Aadhaar
- Passport
- Driving License
- Election Card
- Ration Card
- National Population Register
The above documents can be verified in the EPFO but the mandatory IDs were only Aadhaar and PAN, Aadhaar is mandatory because it is proof of your Personal details.
PAN is mandatory in the case when you trying to withdraw an amount more than Rs.50000.
Otherwise, you will be deducted with 40% of the tax if PAN is available only 10% will be getting deducted.
Select the Document you required to verify and provide the Document Number like PAN or Aadhaar Number because it is mandatory.
Name as per the Document which registered with Employer and Document should be the same.
If you think your name is not correct in the document, then you had to correct your name in the Aadhaar or PAN accordingly.
Once completed, click on save to verify the documents and then the Homepage where Aadhaar and PAN number mentioned will turn into green as verified.
Withdrawing EPFO Amount
EPFO or PF Amount withdrawal online by clicking on the below page, Online Services -> Claim Form
Look onto the below screenshot for the reference
Once you click on the claim form, you will get the below page where you have to enter your last 4 digits of the Bank Account number to verify the Bank Account Owner.
Then you would get the below confirmation page where it requests to confirm and agree to receive the PF amount to this respective bank.
After clicking on “Yes” for the above page, it will redirect to below page where you have to choose “I want to Apply for”
If you are withdrawing after 90 days of leaving your job then you will be able to see the normal withdrawal option otherwise the below option appears as “PF Advance”
Choose as per your withdrawal option then your page will redirect to below where you have to fill the related columns.
As per above below columns need to be filled
- I want to apply for
- Purpose of which advance is required, you can choose “Illness” if you are withdrawing advance
- Amount of Adance you required
- Employee Address
- Upload Bank Passbook/Cheque – You can Upload your copy of the scanned Bank Passbook for the verification of Account Holder and Number.
After filling all the details, submit the form at last, once submitted you can view the status from Online Services—-> Track Claim Status to check with withdrawal status.
How to check Your EPFO Passbook Balance
To view the Passbook balance of your EPFO account and details, you click on the highlighted from the below Link
Once you enter into the above page, you can log in with your account details and can download the PDF of your passbook to view the balance amount.
You can also know you EPFO Passbook balance through a Missed call to the Number: 011 229 01 406
Once you call the above Number from your Mobile number with the EPFO account then you would get an SMS mentioning your account balance in the PF account. So you can make use of this feature.
